Mikaela is my name but I usually call myself Totoro in different forums. I love art, mixed media, polymer clay and metal. My husband calls my art dark, and I don’t have a better word for it. I love when the art tells a story or has a meaning. So today I want to show you something I’m really trying to learn. Self-knowledge. I prefer that word before Self- esteem because Self-knowledge is all about knowing who you are and what you are able to accomplish. I love to mix the deeper thoughts of artjournaling with cardmaking.

So when I’m not making art I’m taking care of my two beautiful children, 2 and 4 years old. They do inspire my messy art and the love to mix colors and paint.

Mikaela är mitt namn, men jag brukar kalla mig Totoro i olika forum. Jag älskar konst, mixed media, fimolera och metall. Min man kallar min konst mörkt, och jag har inget annat bättre ord för det. Jag älskar när konsten berättar en historia eller har en mening. Så idag vill jag visa er något som jag verkligen försöker att lära sig.självkänsla. Jag föredrar det ordet före självförtroende eftersom självkänsla handlar om att veta vem jag är och vad jag kan åstadkomma. Jag älskar att blanda djupare tankar från artjournaling tillsammans med korttillverkning.

Så när jag inte gör konst tar jag hand om mina två vackra barn, 2 och 4 år gamla. De inspirerar mig till kladdigare konst och väcker önskan att blanda färger och måla.

Her er noen av kunstverkene hennes...

Bunny - is almost the same as last but where I used the gloss medium throu a stensil instead to stamp in it. The lovely girl is painted with copics. Then I did a little skull of polymer clay. (a beautiful art must have skulls in my opinion).

Bloom - I painted the background with distress ink and stamps inked with black. After that I spread a layer of gloss medium and stamped with a lagre background stamp. Then I highlighted the structure with metallic wax. The flower is one part of an emboss metal tape flower,some parts from an old plastic flower and a little face of polymer clay.

Bee - This is a play with water-based crayons and markers.

We look forward to see a lot of her artworks, and are SO happy to have her on our team! Vi gleder oss til mange kunstverk fra henne fremover, og vi er utrolig glad for å ha henne på vårt team!

Maja Design - Henrikkes Artical

Hi everyone!

Now it´s only two more days before Christmas Eve and I wanted to show you what I made with the Maja Design papers and stamps. (Since I live in Australia, I just got my package from my parents.) So first I have two cards to show you and one "of-the-page-project".

In all of my project I have used the new Winter Wonderland Collection. The beautiful stamps are also fra Maja Design. I´ve colored my stamps with Distress Reinkers.

This is my second card. Here I´ve colored the beautiful snowman. If you are wondering how to color snow, just check out my tutorial here. There I´ve colored the snowman from Maja Design.

Here is my other project. That is to match the first card I made, so it´s in brown and red. Here I´ve used the cut-out-paper from Maja Design. Around the papers I´ve just stamped a couple of snowflakes.

That´s it for now, so I´am using the oppertunity to say:

I can not hide the fact that I had a difficult time to find out what I wanted to do on my day of fun this year. Not because I didn't find anything to make, but because I had to much things I wanted to do :-)

Made tags, Christmas vintage cards and some other projects, but my choice felt on a Christmas Zentangle with a Christmas stamp as motive...

So, I found my Moleskine book, my pens and rest of my gear and started drawing...

And, here's the result...

Malin's Day of fun - distress and candle bag tutorial

Då var det min tur att hålla i Day of Fun!! Jag har tänkt att dela med mig av två tutorials idag.

Today it's my turn to do the Day of fun! I'm going to show you two tutorials.

Idag är det min tur och jag tänkte visa er hur jag färglägger med distresser, både dynor och flaskor.

I hope that you manage through this whole post without falling asleep! There's a lot of pitcures here ;)

Today, on my day of fun, I'm going to show you how I colour with distress inks, both pads and bottles.

Det här är vad jag har använt. En liten skål med vatten, akrylblock, en bra pensel, versa fine stämpeldyna (onyx black vattenfast) och naturligtvis distress inks.

Jag har använt dessa färger: Vintage photo, walnut stain, tattered rose, stormy sky, weathered wood ch spiced marmelad.

This is what I use. A small bowl of water, acrylic blocks, a great brush, versa fine ink pad (onyx black, water proof)colour palette and of course distress inks.

For this tutorial I used the following colours: vintage photo, walnut stain, tattered rose, stormy sky, weatered wood and spiced marmelad.

Det är svårt att hitta ett bra akvarellpapper. Jag har prövat dussintals men den enda som jag kan använda är cansons akvarellpapper 300g fine grain. Det tål mycket kladd med vatten utan att luckras upp!
På det här fantastiska papperet har jag stämplat upp Hänglars söta stämpel med versa fine. Den torkar på en gång.

It's hard to find an aqurelle paper that is good. I've tried dussins of them but the only one I like is Canson's 300 g fine grain paper. It can take a lot of smudging wth water without crumbling!

On this great paper I stamp my motife, in this case Hänglar's cute stamp, with the Versa fine ink. It dries up immediatly.

Jag börjar alltid med hudfärgen och blandar till några droppar tattered rose med wintage photo.

I always start with the skin colour, mixing a couple of drops tattered rose and vintage photo.

Jag målar en linje med hudfärgen där jag vill börja.

I draw a line with the mixed colours where I want to start.

Efter det doppar jag penseln i vatten så jag får bort all färg från den. Med vatten i penseln så tunnar jag ut färgen undan för undan.

Then I dip my brush in water to get rid of all colour and just blend the skin with regular water.

Jag tunnar ut färgen med vatten ända tills jag är nöjd.

I dip the pencil again and continue blending with water until I'm saticfied.

Håret är en blandning av walnut stain och vintage photo.

The hair is a mix between walnut stain and vintage photo.

När jag inte behöver blanda färger så använder jag bara stämpeldynorna och trycker dessa hårt mot ett akrylblock...

When I don't have to mix any colours I use the distress ink pads. I press it firmly against the block...

...och fångar upp det med min pensel.

...and gather it up with my brush.

Till kläderna har jag använt stormy sky.

For the clothes I use stormy sky.

tunna ut med vatten...

blend it out with water...

...och mer vatten :)

...and more water :)

Till byxorna använde jag walnut stain. Tänk på att vissa färger (som walnut stain) torkar snabbare än andra så jag kan inte lämna det outspätt längre än någora sekunder.

For the trousers I use walnut stain. Remember that some colours (walnut stain is like this) dries faster than other, so I can't leave it "unblended" for more than a few seconds.

Till månen använde jag spiced marmelad.

For the moon colour I used spice marmelad.

Här har jag använt weathered wood.

Here I've used weathered wood.

Jag använder samma färg till att göra som en skugga runt motivet.

I use the same colour for shadow around the motif.

Nästan klart nu!

It's almost ready now!

Jag använder torrchalks till att få färg på kinderna.

I use dry chalks to blush his cheeks.

Så här ser det färdiga motivet ut :)

And now to one more tutorial!!

Det här är en perfekt present till nästan alla tillfällen. En ljuspåse.

This is a perfect gift at any occasion. A candle bag.

Jag har sytt till en påse på ca 18x15 cm.

I sew a bag that's 18 cm tall and 15 cm wide.

På just den här påsen har jag sytt på ett annat tyg och en spets för att göra den lite mer speciell, beroende på vilket tillfälle det är.

I sew on a lace and another fabric to make it a little more "special" depending on what it's for.

Jag använde en stämpel från Prima.

I used a stamp from Prima.

För att vara säker på att det blir ett bra tryck så lade jag cuttlebugens A...grej under :) och stämplade med vattenfast färg.

To make sure that there will be a good print I used the cuttlebugs A ...thing :) I also used a water proof ink.

Den här julen så ska jag ge bort ljuspåsar till min sons dagisfröknar. Eftersom jag inte har så mycket tid på mig så sydde jag "enkla" påsar. Ibland är det "ju mindre desto bättre" och jag gillar verkligen det stilrena med endast text på. Och dom blir ursnygga på kvällen när man stoppar ljus i dem!
Naturligtvis så måste man stoppa i ett glas först eftersom påsen är gjord av tyg!! Så mät glaset först och sy upp påsen efter måttet :)

This christmas I'm going to give candle bags to my sons kindergarden teachers. Since I don't have so much time I made "simple" bags. But sometimes "less is more" and I really like these bags that have nothing else but stamps on them :) And they look gorgeous at evening with candles in them!

Of course, since they are made of fabrics you have to put a glass inside the bag!! So measure the glass first and than make the bag :)

Här har jag använt mig av Inkidos snygga textstämplar.

Here I've used Inkidos lovely text stamps.

Om du vill göra ett tryck som inte finns i stämpelmotiv så finns det något som heter Transfer paper. Det är ett papper som du stryker fast på tyg och använder skrivaren till att få det bilder du vill ha. Det är bara att kolla upp en speciell bild och skriva ut den! Eller kanske ett på sonen/dottern, husdjur, vintage foton eller göra din egen text.

If you want to do some motifes that aren't stamps there's something called Transfer paper. It's a paper that you iron on to fabrics and use the printer to get the pitcure you want! Just look up whatever you want, like vintage photos, photos of your kids, pets, loved ones or make your own text.

I choose pitcures after who is going to get it. My family is also getting candle bags for christmas ;)

...Jag måste verkligen stryka dessa! Jag såg först nu på bilden hur skrynkliga dom är haha :)

...I really have to iron them again! I see now that they look very wrinkled on pitcures haha :)

Lägg på bilden upp och ner. Om det är en text så måste den spegelvändas i photoshop (eller vilket program som helst som har den funktionen).

Put the pitcure up side down. If it is a text you have to reverse it in photoshop (or any program that can do that).

Slå på strykjärnet och dra det över bilden tills den sitter fast.

Heat up the iron and drag it over the pitcure until it is stuck.

Här är en färdig påse med ett änglamotiv.

Hello! Finally, it is my turn to have my "day of fun"

I decided early to have a tutorial, but was very unsure of what I was going to present.

After many rounds of thinking, I decided to make a

bag card tutorial.

Here is what I have used, but you can certainly use other products.

You need two pieces of pattern papers 12x12

one cardstock 12x12

glue, bonefolder or scoreboard

and of course paper trimmer

snowflake dies and ribbon

velcro (to close the bag)

Score the paper at 4" and 8"

flip the paper and score again at 4" and 8"

Score the paper at an angle in every corner

Fold the paper along all the lines

As you can see; It looks like an

an accordion

You need five (5) 9,5 cm x 9,5 cm

squares

And four (4) 9,5cm x 9,2 cm

squares

With those who is 9,5 x 9,2 you do this:

Find the mid point -put a small mark at the top of the square and score from

the mark and down at an angle.

Glue the parts to the folded cardstock as shown

in the pictures below.

To close the bag you need some piece of paper

I have used 4" x 6" and scored 1/2" in the middle of the paper

Inger's day of fun!

Today it's my day of fun and I, Inger, would like to continue one of my favourite themes, recycling. This time I'm focusing on tissue paper and I have a tutorial for you!

This is most of the stuff I've used. I seldom seem to be able to take a before picture with all things, I always make it up as I go along. If I'm not pleased with the outcome, I add something else.

gel medium (I used semi-gloss)
glazing medium
matte acrylic paint (MM)
lumiere acrylic paint
book paper
music notes
old stamps and paper from the post office (roughly 40 years old)
tissue paper
stencils
punchinella (sequin waste)

When I came up with this technique I only used music papers and book pages. I liked that look a lot.

Brush on gel medium, put the scraps on the paper and brush on some additional gel medium to make sure its stuck. The coverage depends on how much you want the text to show through. You don't have to add this much! It takes some time!

Tissue time. I added a lot of tissue, next time I'll add a little less! The less tissue I add, the more text shines through which I like.

Time for next step which is colouring the whole thing! I grabbed some green colours and some purple for contrast. The glazing medium is important. It's mixed with the acrylic paint and makes it transparent. Without that the paint would be opaque and you would not see any of the papers underneath.

I wasn't happy with the outcome so I added some Lumiere, metallic rust. Much better!

I want a lot of texture. I used gel medium over stencils and punchinella to give me that. Let it dry. A tip to speed up the drying time is to put it on a radiator, although not an electrical one!

Now I want to accentuate the texture and I choose copper to do that. I put it on my fingers and brush it on the paper. You can also use metallic rubons, lumiere or rub n buff.

Highlighted. I painted the snow flakes with hi lite red, lumiere, a wonderful colour.

Some close ups. Can you see the snow flakes and the holes from the punchinella?

And what did I make of this background? Well, some christmas cards of course. Maybe it's not the most typical colours for christmas but I always like to twist things around.

I really like this green colour so I wanted the cardstock to show. The candle is stamped on transparent paper, I added double sided tape on the backside and "painted" it with pearl ex powder. Sparkly fantasy fibers.

The baubles are stamped on alco ink coloured glossy paper and cut out. I cut off the hang thing and added a cord instead. Punched out shrink plastic and stamped merry christmas in Swedish. I put down some tulle and heated with the heat gun to get some effects and holes.

I punched out holes and filled them with bees wax and mini beads. I put a stencil over the cardstock and sprayed it with pearl ex. Outlined with use of another stencil with a pen. Twisted some yarn around the swirl.

Rudolph looks a bit sad. Shouldn't he be happy with that gorgeous red flower soft on his nose? I punched out a swirl and with inspiration from Tim Holtz christmas tags, I filled the hole with sepia accent. Rudolph is stamped and embossed on a book page and painted with twinkings H2O. Shrink plastic, coloured with fluid chalk. Bandage coloured with distress ink. Flowers sprayed with a mixture of gum arabic, pearl ex and water. The sparkly thing is fantasy fiber.

Hei, Jannhild her! Da var det min dag, og jeg har en liten men lang tutorial til dere. Jeg har fått noen spørsmål om det finnes en tutorial på denne "Spåkorgen" min. Jeg har ikke laget en før, så jeg bestemte meg for å lage en til min dag.

Da begynner jeg :)

Brett en 12x12 inch kartong/bazzill på midten begge veier først.

Let's start :)

Fold a 12x12 inch cardstock in the midle both ways.

Deretter bretter du alle hjørnene inn mot midten.

Then fold all the corners in to the center.

Da ser den slik ut.

Then it will lock like this.

#4:

Snu prosjektet til den andre siden og brett hjørnene på denne siden også inn til midten. Bruk gjerne en Bone Folder da det begynner å bli tykt og vanskelig å brette med fingrene.

Turn your project and fold the corners on this side also in to the midle. Use a Bone Folder if you like. It starts to get thick now and hard to fold with your fingers :)

Neste steg er å brette prosjektet på midten begge veier igjen. Brett samme vei som vist på bidet under.

Next step is to fold your project on the midle both ways again. Fold the same way as shown on the picture below.

Nå åpner du "Spå'en" slik som vist på bildet under.

Now you open the "Spå" as shown in the picture below.

Snu "Spå'en" andre veien.

Turn the "Spå" the other way.

Dette trenger du til resten: 12 ruter med mønsterpapir - mine måler 7,1 x 7,1 cm. Siden ikke alle "Spå'ene" blir helt like i målene pga brettingen, kan det være lurt å måle selv hvor stort mønsterarket skal være. Du trenger også to remser med kartong/bazzill og to remser med mønsterpapir til hankene. Til foten har jeg brukt en litt tykkere kartong som jeg kler med hvitt over og under, og litt mønsterpapir øverst.

Hankene mine måler 12 inch i lengde, bredden avgjør du selv fra korg til korg :)

What you need for the rest: 12 squares with pattern paper - mine measures 7.1 x 7.1 cm. Since not all "Spå'ene" are identical in dimensions due to folding, you may want to measure yourself how large your pattern paper should be. You also need two strips of cardboard / Bazzill and two strips of pattern paper to the handles. To the foot of your basket, I have used a slightly thicker cardboard that I cover with white on both sides, and some pattern paper on top.

My handles measures 12 inch in length, width you can decide yourself.

#9:

Lim på mønsterpapir på utsiden av korgen din med flytende lim, dette gjør at korgen din blir litt stivere, men kan også gjøre at den blir litt bøyd/krokete... Hvis du vil lime på mønsterarket tidligere, gjør du det etter bilde nr 6.

Åpne "Spå'en" og lim på mønsterpapiret, brett den tilbake igjen etterpå.

Glue the pattern paper on the outside of your basket with your liquid glue. Then your basket will be a little stiffer, but can also cause that it gets a little bent/crooked ... If you want to paste the pattern paper on before, do it after photo # 6.

Open the "Spå" and glue on pattern paper, fold it back again afterwards.

Nå er korgen klar til å limes til foten.

Now is your basket ready to be glued to the foot.

#11:

Bruk gjerne limpistol, da fester den seg fort. Hvis du ikke har det, kan du bruke f.eks Glossy Accent eller Tacky Glue. Da må du ha litt mer tolmodighet og holde helt til den sitter fast!

Use glue gun to attach your basket to the foot. If you do not have that, you can use for example Glossy Accent or Tacky Glue, but than you need a little more patience and hold the basket steady until it is stuck to the foot!

Hello everyone, today it`s my turn to show you something:) I really love Christmas time, actually I think we all love, so I have done some beautiful paper stars and decorated gift bags.

All the papers I have used are from Vivi Gade Designs. They are a little bit thinner than the other design papers so they are suitable for these kind of crafting:)

Here you can see the stars.

And decorated gift bags:) As you can see, so simple and easy to make. Hearts are cut from design paper and for the other bag I used Tim Holtz die.

I hope you got some inspiration and I`m wishing you a wonderful Christmas time:)

Hi there everyone, Åsa here!

Today it´s the third Sunday in Advent and it´s my turn to share my Day of Fun.

Im going to give you a tutorial on how to do a Tag-Card.

A very fast and easy way to do a card fold, out of one 12x12 paper, and there is no glue needed!

Isn´t that great?!

Here comes the description:

Start with one 12x12dubbel sided paper. The side that´s up is the one thats going to end up on the 'inside' of the card.

Fold it in half.

Fold down about 2-4 cm of the paper.

Fold it two times, so it splits in to three parts.

Make sure that you don´t fold all the way out to the edge...

...here you can see that I left a space of a couple of mm, before the corner edge.

Here you can see the front of the card.

The folding creates a pocket, both at the front and in the back.

Now fold in the corners.

Because I want to distress all the edges I un-fold the card.

In that way I can see all the fold marks and can easily distrees them.

After distressing, fold the card again and then end with putting the two sides in the back overlapped.

No glue needed. This overlapping will make the card hold together.

To make the card that Im putting in to the front pocket, I cut a paper in the size of 10x12 cm.

Then I punch out a scalloped circle to decorate under the eyelet.

I also puts a eyelet in the top of the card base it self.

And here you can see the finished card!

Now the fun part, with decorating, begins.

Hi everyone!

I, Henrikke, am so lucky that I get to have my third day of christmas-fun! How great is that?? So this time I have focused on gifts that can be nice to give to someone before christmas. Not like a christmas-gift but jsut a little warm greeting in the cold days. I made a tutorial on one of my creations and than I´ll show you pictures on the three others.

Tutorial: Tea-bag with tag b

To make this one you will need: A clearbag, paper, decorations, foamtape, doublesided tape, tea, dies and a stampler.

Start by filling up your clearbag with the tea you want. I´ve chosen one with spices that remind me of christmas.

Stampel your bag together.

Find the die you want to use as your tag. I know that this die is smaller than my clearbag so I can´t just cut it out. So I took the biggest one I had and measured the size of it. My die is 4 inch wide so I know I have to scor on around 4 inch.

Than measure my clearbag up to the die. And how long I need it to be.

I placed mine in the corner, but the other side is under the paper. Because I don´t want it to cut there.

Put it in your die-cut-machine. When I get pass the cutting lines that I want to cut, I go back. So I don´t take my paper all the way through the machine.

Take the little piece you get and place it on the other side so you see where you want your die if you want it to be symmetrical.

In the middle I used the smallest die, and made a nice edge where there was no cutting line.

There is my tag done.

Stampel your bag to your tag.

Cut a piece of paper and use foam-tape to cover up your stampels. If you just use doublesided tape it will show through the paper.

And than decorate your tag in your way! Here you can see mine.

The first one is the tea-bag with a tag. A nice gift. And by using your die in the way we did, by placing iy diagonal you get a really cool tag.

The next on is a box filled with coffee. In the box I made two seperate rooms so I can have two different types of coffee in the box. And than I made a lid out of plastic and placed it on the top. The ribbon keeps the lid on it´s place.

A lot of people get sick around christmas times. This is a really cute gift to someone if you know that they are not feeling well. And even better, combine this one with a boc of coffee or tea and make them a warm greeting with the best wishes.

The last one is a simple glass filled with tea. It´s nice just as a little greeting to someone. Maybe you know a student how has his or hers head in the books now? It´s the big examination-period.

That was just four small tips if you want to give someone a nice, warm greeting in the winter right before christmas. Hope you enjoyed.

Eva´s Day of Fun: Prismacolor Pencils

Or to be exact: Prismacolor Premier Soft Core Colored Pencils! :

These pencils were one of the first things that came up in my head when I was thinking about what to do for my Day Of Fun. The pencils themselves are not a new invention, many of you have probably been using them for quite a while, but to me they are new since a couple of months and I looove them and think they´re so fun to play with :).

Today I´d like to share with you some facts and tips that I´ve learned from different blogs, YouTube and from my own trials and errors while trying to get aqquainted to these pencils.

They´re made of cedar wood and have a wax based, pigment rich core. Using a light pressure while coloring, you get a soft subtle shade and with a harder pressure you get very intense colors that covers well. Therefor they have some advantages that makes them a perfect alternative and complement to distress reinkers (wich is my other favorite coloring technique :) ) :

1.They work well with water based stamp pads.

2. They work well with digi stamps ( at least with my printer´s ink, but it has to be completely dry, preferrably over night)

3. The good coverage makes it possible to use colored backgrounds, for example Kraft CS.

And besides that, some variation is always nice :) !

To avoid sharp edges between different colors and make nice shades you want to be able to blend your colors. There are a couple of ways to do this with the Prisma pencils.

One way is to use thinner, "Odourless mineral spirits" ( luktfri förtunning) . There are different brands, eg "Beckers A" , which I found in an Artist´s store ( Artistica ):

The thinner is used together with paper stompfers ( the white ones in the center) that you dip in the fluid. I use a glass jar with a tight lid in which I´ve put a piece of Wettex cloth, and put in thinner so it just covers the cloth. Makes it easier to wetten the stompfer just right and not too much. (And remember to keep the lid on in between- it doesn´t smell at all but it´s still volatile and probably not very healthy... :) )

Then you use the stompfer in small circular motions to blurr sharp edges and blend colors. To some extent you can also "pull out" the color a bit outside the coloured area.

To take away colour from the stompfers and to sharpen them you can use a nail file or a sandpaper. It´s a good idea to have several stompfers so you don´t have to do that for every change of color.

A GOOD pencil sharpener is also helpful :)...

Another way of blending colors is with the Colorless Blender Pencil. That´s a pencil just like the others but without color pigment.

Sometimes it also works fine to blend with the lightest of the colors you´ve used on an area.

I made a little test to figure out the difference between those ways:

I colored 3 "spheres" in the same way with 3 shades of turquoise.

Then I used the stompfer with thinner on the one to the right, the colorless blender pencil on the one in the middle and the lightest turquoise pencil on the left one-with slightly different results:

I think the thinner gave the best blending, especially when you want soft shades. The Blender pencil didn´t work very well at all, but better in the areas with more color. In the left one, since you use a colour pencil to blend with you get a more intense colour, wich is fine if that´s what you want. Here, the darker shades almost disappeared so I had to put on some more of those after blending.

What paper to use then? The smoother the better I think. Aquarel paper with a lot of structure is not to recommend, you tend to colour only the "tops" of the paper with a grainy result.

Apart from that I think anything works. I´ve used this:

Smooth cardstock also works fine .

As I mentioned earlier I´m still a newbie with these pencils. Nevertheless I will show you a couple of examples on how to use them ( no self-criticism here... :D).
Anyway, general principles of coloring is pretty much the same no matter what technique you use.

Colours look lighter when close to a light source and darker the further away from the light that they are.
First of all decide where the light comes from and then you know where to put your shades and highlights.

In this picture ( an Elisabeth Bell image) I´ve decided that the light source is over and in front of the girl, so the light falls from the upper right corner to the lower left corner.

I start by coloring all the skin with the lightest skin color, here "light peach":

Then I put on a layer of a darker shade ( "Peach") on the shadow sides:

Then blend with the stompfer:

Still too pale and boring so I add some shades with a brown shade "burnt ochre":

And the the stompfer again. You can repeat this until you like the result.

In the next picture I´ve done the same procedure with the hair. First the lightest color "Cream"all over, then a darker yellow shade where I think the shadows should be, an finally a dark brown color for more marked shadows. I´ve also put some pink on the cheek:

Here I´ve used the "Cream" pencil all over the hair once again to blend instead of the stompfer:

Then the dress, the lightest blue:

Then two darker blue shades and stompfer:

You can always go back and add more shades if you need, until it looks OK. If you get too much color where you want light areas yo can actually use a rubber to take some of it away. You can also add highlights with the white pencil.

After a little more shades and background color:

An here´s another example, Maja Design´s Santa on Kraft Cardstock.

First the white areas:

Then shadows with a dark grey pencil and skin color on face:

Blend with stompfer:

Three brown shades on the sack and boots:

Blended the brown and coloured the trousers with a grey pencil:

Added shades on the trousers with black pencil and blended:

Colored jacket and cap with a light and darker shade of red:

Blended with stompfer:

Green gloves, same procedure :) :

And the lantern:

The whole Santa needs some more shades, black pencil:

And after blending shades with stompfer and added some yellow around the lantern:

Finally some highlights with white pencil and some grey as background:

And a couple of other examples. I like that the Prisma pencils gives such a "soft" impression although the colors can be very intense... if that makes any sense...:)

So, those of you who haven´t tried these lovely pencils yet- I strongly recommend that you do! They´re very easy to control and so FUN to work with!

Bettinas Day of fun!

Ho! ho! ho!

Are you al starting to get in to the christmas spirit now?
Only about two weeks left, and i havent even started my christmas shopping yet,yikes.

But thats ok, maybe ill end up doing al my christmas presents myself, lol.
At least that is what the teatchers over at my babygirls daycare are getting tomorrow, a home made gift.

Since i think its so much FUN to do al kinds of boxes and things, and i also love to alter them, thats what i did.

So here is a little box that i pimped up...

I also wanted to do a matching candle.

It will be nice for them when they are on a brake, sipping their warm coffe, to light a little candle.

Especially after beeing out in the cold with the kids a half day.

I also wanted them to have something cute to look at so i chosed little Tilda.

Heres the box from above...

I wanted you to see the sparkly and beautiful flower.

Here we have them both, the altered box and the candle...

I really had so much FUN making theese, and im so excited about tomorrow.

Will my daughters daycare teatchers like them?

at least i know they will like one thing...

I filled the box with lots of chockolate!

Are you done with the Christmas presents? Not? Then my (Marianne) “day of fun” might be something for you. I think it is much more fun to stay by my scrapping table than search the crowded stores for the perfect present. Today I will give you tips for some nice presents you can make yourselves, and I also want to share with you some links to toturials. I hope you get some ideas, and inspiration to create.

Big candles you can decorate by adding the motif on tissue paper, and smelt it into the candle by using a heating tool. You can use stamped images and texts, vintage pictures or personal pictures.

Christmas fun with Washi paper

På min "Silje's Day of fun" så vil jeg dele med dere noen av mine juleprosjekter med Washi papir - både Washi tape og Wrap. Washi tape kjenner sikkert de fleste til ; ) Wrap er Washi papir på en bred rull som da egner seg godt til innpakning og til å lage sine egne poser og konvolutter med.

On my - Silje's day of fun I'd like to share with you some of my christmas projects with Washi paper - both Washi tape and Wrap. Wrap are a much wider roll of Washi paper, with glue only on the sides of the paper, that are fun to use for wrapping presents and make your own giftbags / envelopes.

These are the products I've been using, you can find them here!

Denne gaveposen er laget med Wrap-papiret. Så har jeg limt på forskjellig Washi tape til pynt

og brukt litt twine til å lukke den med.

This Giftbag are made out of Wrap. I've added som Washi tape on the front and used some twine to close it. Want to make Creamy Caramels like the one in the picture?

Here's a recipe for you:

Creamy Caramels

1/2 cup cream

1/4 tbsp Vanilla extract

6tbsp Butter

1-1/3 Cups light brown sugar

1. Prepare a small (6x6 inch) square pan, spray it with nonstick cooking spray.

2. Combine the sugar, cream, butter, vanilla, and 1 tbs water in a medium

heavy-bottomed saucepan. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the butter is melted.

3. Bring to boil and cover for 3 minutes.

4. Uncover, but do not stir! Continue boiling until a candy thermometer reads 250 degrees.

5. Pour the caramel into the prepared pan and let it cool down.

6. When it is still slightly wet, score the top into squares, and then leave to harden completely.

7. Cut into pieces and wrap individually in waxed paper or cling wrap. Candies can be store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.

Stjernen på pakken har jeg brettet selv. Den er brettet av papir fra et Interiør magasin og deretter blitt sprayet med gullspray. Har du lyst til å prøve å brette dine egen stjerne kan du ta en titt på denne her!

Day of fun - Demoday in Australia

I, Henrikke, am so lucky, that I get my second day of fun!! Wee ;-) Since I live in Australia I wanted to do something special for my second day. Today we had a huge demo-day in a store close to me. I got a request form the owner if I wanted to be one of the girls to hold her demos, and of course I said yes. So this is just a picture series to show you guys a couple of things we did. This was basically a cutting-machine demo. So I was showing my beautiful Cuttlebug in pink.

Maissi's day of fun: Christmas tags

In my day of fun I decided to show you my christmas tags. This year I send them as cards and add them on my homemade gifts. I love to try out new paints and clues so these are made with different techniques.

These are the main materials I use in this tag. First I coloured the white tag with Distress stain Peeled Paint, let it dry and add Distress Stain Picket Fence. After it dryed up I embossed the tag by using the die upside down (deboss). Then I add thick layer of Distress Crackle paint and peeled it off using thick paper. It took some time to dry and then I add Adirondack gold dabber in the edges. The ribbon I coloured with Distress Stain Vintage Photo.

These are the main materials I used in the second tag. At first I coloured the white tag with Distress Stain Fired brick and let it dry. When it was dry I add Distress stain Peeled paint and finally Distress Stain Picked Fence. When the tag was dry I stamped with textstamp. Then I stamped on with snowflake stamps and embossed it with Ranger embossing powder. Finally I sprayd the tag with Ranger Perfect Pearl Mist Biscotti, it gives nice golden glitter in to the tag.

Here are the main materials for the third tag. This time I used old music paper and ripped it and put some ink to the edges. I clued them in to the tag and put some gold dabber in to the edges. I also stamped snowflakes in to the tag and embossed them with gold emboss powder. The little textpaper is covered with Distress Crackle paint. The final touch is Rangers Perfect Pearl Mist Biscotti.

Tutorial: Christmas Basket

♥ Christmas Basket ♥

Good morning everyone and happy 1.december! The girls in StampARTic are holding a "Day of fun"-christmas for you this year! SO every day you will see tips, tutorials, cards, projects and so much more from TODAY! Yes, you heard right, the hole thing starts today, so you should come back tomorrow.

So, today it´s me, Henrikke, who gets to fire up out "Day-of-fun"- Christmas! I´ve made you a tutorial on a christmas basket. The one we are going to make looks like this -->

But before we get started you need a couple of things:

- 1 bazzill

- 2 patteren-papers

- Scor-pale

- Cutting-board

- Punch to make small holes

- Double-sided tape

- Decorations

- Ribbon

Yes, that´s about it. So are you ready to get started than??

STEP 1: The first thing you got to do, is line up your bazzill on the scor-pale. I fyou dont have a scor-pale you can always use the cutting-board with a score-knife, but you will have some problems later in the tutorial.

Score your paper at 4 and 8 inch.

Than turn it around and score at 4 and 8 inch again.

Your card-stock should look like this now. 2 scoring-lines in each direction.

So, this is where you will have problems if you don´t have a scor-pale. Now, turn your card-stock around, like the picture above shows you.

Now you are scoring the corners of the basket, so these lines are going diagonal.

A little trick: If you are having problems with the line up of your cardstock while doing this, use your lines on the side to create a symmetri. By lining them up at the same number on both sides you can be sure your scoring-line will be straight.

This is how your cardstock should look now.

Start to fold your vertical and horizontal lines.

Now, do the diagonal like the picture shows use.

Than your basket is all folded.

Now this is a step you can jump over if you want to. My hole-punch is not strong enough to go trough 3 pieces of cardstock. That´s way I`m making holes on each step before my patteren paper comes on. If you have a good hole-punch, you can do this at the end, and save some time.

Here you can see all of my corners got pierced.

STEP 2: Now we are moving on to step 2. Take your patteren-paper out. I use to double-sided papers. It ´s important that they match. Start by marking you patteren paper on 4 and 8 inch on each side.

Cut you paper at you markes. You will end up with 9 pieces on each paper.

You might need to cut of about 5 mm on each paper on two of the sides, if you want you cardstock to show.

Now you can see that I sorted mine out. Both of my patteren papers had a plain color on the other side. So I´ve matched them up. I divided mine so I have 5 with the plain-back color and 4 with the patteren.

Before I put them on I have inked the edges using Ranger Distress ink, color: Walnut Stain.

So now you can see how I placed them.

I placed on whole piece in the middle.

The four others I cut in half. Remember to ink the edges again on the cutting-side.

I use double-sided tape to glue them on.

Finished.

Now, I take my holes again.

And than we have to do the same on the front.

When you finihed and all of you small 4x4 inch sqaures have paper in them, we put a tread in the hole you hade. I used hamp-tread this time.

Pull it together and make a nice bow on the top.

STEP 3: Than move over to decorations. I´ve chosen to use my Spellbinders to create a frame. I have also use stamps from Stampin Up!

Here you can see that I used 3D-tape to glue my frame on.

So after some flowers and perles, my basket is ready to go! Fill it up with candy, wrap it in cellofan and give it away for christmas.

Christmas is getting closer and soon there won´t be time or economy for any shopping but for christmas gifts :). So NOW it´s high time to do the shopping of those necessities that you can´t survive without the coming month.

I bought this lovely Aged Gold Embossing Enamel from Stampendous. It produces a thick embossed surface, almost as UTEE, with an aged, vintage look:

It also comes in Aged Silver, Aged Black, Shabby Blue and Shabby Pink.

I´d also like to tip you about a whole lot of gorgeous chipboard shapes from Fabscraps:
