Brushstroke with LePlume II markers....
Her kommer en liten tutorial for å blåse liv i denne gamle teknikken igjen.
We are breathing life into an old technique, brushstroke.
Brushstroke rubber stamps is one of Penny Blacks collections,
but similar rubber stamps with large rubber area can be used.
The technique is to color directly onto the stamp before stamping.
To make the image come to life we can use many shades of colors
and blend together within this technique too.
Here is a tutorial to freshen up this technique once again....
Brushstroke stempel eller lignende
Marvy LePlume II tusjer,
Sprayflaske
Papir
This is what you need:
Brushstroke stamp or similar.
Marvy LePlume II Markers
Spray bottle with water
Card stock
Jeg har brukt stempelet
Casual fra Penny Black.
The rubber stamp I am using is
Casual from Penny Black.
Find the colors you want to use for the whole image, and have several nuances within each color. Start with the lightest color and color the image in directly on the rubber stamp.
Take the next nuances and start coloring a little in on where the lighter color is,
and keep doing this with as many nuances you have...
After the darkest color, I usually go over with all the nuances once again,
making sure it is all blended in to nice shades.
On the leafs and the stem I start with the lightest green and then add a darker one, like on the flower, but I always add dark brown on the edges, it makes the image come more to live.
Step 2:
You have maybe a little panic right now,
because the markers is all dried up on the rubber stamp?
No danger, we are about to spray with water and the markers will all come to live again...
so there is no need to stress out and coloring it in very fast.
Do not spray directly on the rubber stamp,
that will leave to big watermarks when stamping.
Spray into the air, and run the rubber stamp with the rubber side up
through the mist of water.
Do this 1 or 2 times, but be careful....
it does not need much water, and if you do it to many times,
it will also make watermarks when stamping.
It is time to stamp....
I have tried many different card stock and paper with this technique.
Some are using aquarelle paper for brushstroke technique, but I think it draw to much color from the image, and it is hard to get a great result.
I like smooth surfaced card stock.
One of my favorite is thick printer paper with high gloss surface.
(not glossy paper or photo paper)
I usually distress the edges, making the image pop more, and bringing it to live.
****
Og her er det ferdige kortet
And here is the finnish card
The colors I have used in this tutorial:
- Flower center: 13-Ochre, 83-Butterscotch
- Petals: 60-Salvia Blue, 100-Saphire Blue, 17- Steel Blue, 33- Oriental Blue
- Leafs and stems: 48-Leaf Green, 15- Olive Green, 18- Dark Brown
***********
Marvy LePlume II Markers are water based, and that is what gives this effect.
It is possible that other water based markers will give the same effect, but I have only tried Marvy LePlume II markers.
Marvy LePlume II markers are available in most on line scrapping stores.

Distressed backgrounds.
*****
There are so many beautiful patterned papers to choose from, so sometimes we forget that we can make our own backgrounds as well. Another thing we often forget, at least I do, is our men. No, not the actual man, but cards that will suite a man, doesn’t go along with our cute images, and wonderful papers. A card for a man doesn’t have to be all ruff and tuff it can just as well be harmonic and elegant. We have used the good and old Distress “rub and splash” technique, and made some card for your inspiration. These are cards that will suite both men and women.
I will start with a tutorial for those of you who haven’t tried this jet, or if you just need a reminder.
What you need to get going is aquarelle paper, Distress Ink, I have chosen the colures “faded jeans” and “Dusty concord”, sponges and water.
*****
I know many of you will start in the middle of the sheet when you make Distress backgrounds. I like to start on the edges. I fill the sponge with ink, and rub the ink from the edges, and in against the center of the paper. Then the colure will be dark on the edges, and lighter in the middle.
I start with the blue, and leave some space for the purpur colure.
*****
Then I do the same with “Dusty concord”, and let the two colures blend.
*****
Now I have added a little more of the blue, but don’t worry if it doesn’t look all smooth. When you add water, images and text, your result will look just great.
*****
How much water you want to use, is up to you. If you use a fine mist, you will get a fine and smooth pattern. If you dip your fingers in water, and add water drops to your background, you will get bigger spots. I have used my fingers on my card. Remember always to let it dry up, before you continue your card.
*****
I have decided how I want my card to turn out, and I start with a light border on the left side. I have used Stazon – Midnight blue, for the image.
For the butterflies, I have used the same Distress colures I used for the background. For the text I have used black ink.
For the straws in the front, I have used Perfect Pearls. It doesn’t show in the picture, but it sparkle. I add some swirls in the corners, and now I`m ready to mount my card.
Her er kortet mitt ferdig.
Now my card is all done. I didn’t want to use any decoration, I think all the different stamps are decoration enough.
Here are some cards, made the same way.
We hope you found some inspiration in this article, and that you will make a lot of Distress card in the time to come.

Some shoppingtips...
The shoppingtips for the month is about the eternal
delicate problem; storage! You can never get enough
just got mine, and I really recommend it! I am a messy
scrapper, so having this right in front of me on the
scrapping table, makes it so much easier to keep some
of the mess in order... LOL... It swirl, so it is easy to get
a hold of what ever you need in there. It is from
Making Memories, and they sell it in almost every big
scrapping store, I bought mine at www.franticstamper.com"
where there is room for paper in 35x35 cm and it is
easy just to run away when not using it. I bought it

way dissapeared when I bought these showercurtain-
hooks on Jysk. Now they´re hanging neat in order in
spellbinders på pysselträffar. Då krokar jag bara i
dem i armbandet och låser dem. Lite annorlunda
förvaring kanske men helt funktionsduglig!
that I use when I go to shoppingmeetings with my dear
spellbinders. I just hook the hooks into the bracelet and
locke them. A little unusual storage maybe but entirely
operational!
