Mariusz Gierszewski - Guestdesigner for January

This month, we have got Mariusz Gierszewski, one of the Prima Marketing Educators,  from Poland as a guest designer.

When did you start scrapbooking and papercrafting?
My adventure with scrapbookingiem I started a little more than 2 years ago. In August 2012, when I made my first card.

How important is crafting in your life today?
Today for me is more than just a hobby. I spend every free times on creating new projects. Now as Prima Marketing Educator I have a lot of traveling and I give workshops in different countries in Europe.

Do you do any other crafts than papercrafting?
No. I work only with paper.

What kind of papercrafts and techniques do you enjoy?
I like working with gesso when I create shabby chic projects. Gesso adds delicacy and soft appearance to the work. In my vintage projects, I always work with Disters Inc- Vintage Photo. It’s the best color in the world, in my opinion.

What kind of products do you use at the moment?
As I mentioned earlier I’m Prima Marketing Educator and and am trying to work with their products, as much as possible. They have awesome papers, medias, stamps, stencils and my favorite product- flowers. I really like chip boards from Scrapiniec. They offer great designs at a good price. I do also appreciate the fact that company performs individual designs for the customers. It’s a huge plus.

We all need inspiration from time to time, who or what inspire you?
The one who inspires me most, is my friend Karola Witczak. She is incredible, and always make awesome projects. Her style is very close to me. On second place is Karolina Czajkowska and her mixed-media LO’s, cards and altered art projects. I visit their blogs whenever I lack ideas.

How do you get from an idea to a finished artwork?

Always when I start creating new project, I am looking for materials to work with and then I choose accessories that I would like to use. Checking that everything fits together in color etc. I spend a lot of time to create a composition. I like when everything creates a coherent whole

Some of my projects:

We would like to thank Mariusz for taking time for this interview,

Tool of the month - Mod Melts

Hej!

Today I give you a movie where I show how to use Mod Melts. I love to create my own decorations that I easy can paint in any colors I want. I often make lots of them so I can quick and easy paint them when I need them.

Här kommer min video:

This is my video:

And here is a card that I have made with letters and a star that I have made.

I can really recomend this to all of you who loves to make your own decoratins.

Distress Inks & Babywipes

Distress Ink & Babywipes technique

Following months we wish to remind you of the "old techniques" that we used to do
with tutorials and step by step pictures. This time we have choosen Distress Inks & Babywipes,
that is a technique you do not have to have a lot of gears to make, it's fast and it
fits into the category "clean & simple".

All you need is watercolor papier, distress reinker (2-3 colors) and babywipes - add 1-2 drops of reinker and wipe the cloth over the papier. I prefer to use light to dark color!

If you want more depth in your background, you can apply some water to the background.

Write a comment if you have some questions :-)
Good luck!

    Art Journal - Faces

    ***
A new year and a fresh start on our Art journal articles. These we have monthly.
This year I want to try something different, at least until summer.
Faces has become very popular both in AJ and mixed media. There are several online workshops and if you are lucky to live in an area where you can join real classes, there are a few. I isn`t that lucky, so I have to use online classes.
    ***
That`s why I want us to play with faces. These comes in a variaty from stamps and images to you draw yourself. Everything is allowed as long as you have fun playing with different techniques and styles.
    ***
This time I used a stamp for my face and I colored it in with my copic markers.
My background is a collage of different papers and I gessoed and used different mists to make the background colors fade a bit.

Hope this article will inspire you to play and have fun and use faces in your Art Journal.

    Fargelegging/coloring

    ***
Hello and a Happy New Year.
We have brand new year and we are going to have a new monthly article about coloring, tips and tricks.
We are mainly focusing on coloring with copic and promarker.
It can be simple or more advanced.
    ***
    ***
I am a copic girl and have to admitt that I love these markers. Maybe because they are the coloring medium I can get a good blend with colors.
    ***
    ***
I also love to color in some kind of big images and stamps. I really like the Mixed media dolls from Prima. And today I choose one of the boys-Aiden.
    ***

    ***
    Hud: E50-51-00-30-01
    Hår: E42-43-35-37-39
    ***
These stamps doesn`have faces so I just drew a face on Aiden. Here is some images to show how I build the colors. I always start with the lightest one and start building from there. I take a couple of layers with that one before I go to the next color. I always color all of the face first, then I start building colors from the sides and in to the face. Sometimes the blending isn`t so smooth and when that happens I take the tip of the lightest color and pick color from one of the darker markers. I start blending from the sides and in to the face. I do this until I like the blending.
As for the hair, I also start with the lightest color and building up with darker colors. I use feather stroke for this.
    The color I used is:
    Skin: E50-51-00-30-01
    Hair: E42-43-35-37-39
    ***
    ***
    ***
    Fargene jeg har brukt er:
    RV66-69-BV11-V25-28
    ***
Here is some images to show how I color in the sweater. I use mostly feather strokes on this. Some
    small and some bigger.
    The colors I used are:
    RV66-69-BV11-V25-28
    ***
    ***
    ***
Here is a short video for you to watch.
Here I used the same way to blend colors, using the tip of  the lighets colors to pick color from the darkest.
    ***
    ***

    ***
Here are some images to show how I build the colors on the pants with only two colors. I have for the mostly followed the lines and made them darker with the colors and tried to make some folds. I used several layes until I liked the color on the pants.
The colors I used is: YG91-E84
I used the same colors on the shoes as I used on the sweater and startet from the midle and worked my way out to make some shadow.
    ***
    ***
Fianally, here is the card where I used Aiden.
    ***
    ***
    ***
There is many ways to color with your copics, but this is how I do it. I hope this was for some help for some of you.
Next month there will be a tutorial with promarkes.

    Shopping tip for January

December and Christmas is over and maybe some of you, like me, got gift cards as presents. I used mine at one of the tip in this article, the Zutter Bind-It-All machine. Looking forward to use it more!!
January is mostly a cold month here in Norway where I live and I love to sit in my craft room and play with my new (and old) "toys"!!

First tip is this beautiful collection of papers from Maja Design:

It is called Nyhavn and is a collection of 12"x12" papers.

Second tip are these dies from different manufactors:

Memory Box are launching a bunch of  new craft dies in January and among them are these:

    Ferrand Heart

    Waltzing Butterflies

    Steampunk Corner

Spellbinders has some guite new ones too:

    Victoria Corners

    Flutter Love

    Majesty

Third tip is a machine called Zutter Bind-It-All

With this machine you can make calendars, albums, cook books etc.
(with a google search it is easy to find examples of different projects)

How to use dies for 3D project

Hello everyone, and a happy new year to all of you

Today I want to show you an easy way to make 3D project with dies.
I want to make a 3D car with Tim Holtz dies.

I use cardboard to for the construction.
You will need two cars in cardboard.

Cut a strip 7x12 cm, and score on 1 and 6 cm, and then you have to cut small notches on both sides.

You are now ready to glue the strip to the car. Remember to use liquide glue.

    One side is glued together.

Both of the car dies is glued on the strip.

    Front.

    Side.

    Rear

I hope you did understand explanation. It takes a little bit of patience and accuarcy.

Now it is time to have some fun, and decorate the car.

On this project I have used Graphic 45 papers from
"Come away with me" and "Raining Cats and Dogs"

All the fussy cut is from "Raining Cats and Dogs"

I have used a large quantity of flowers from Wild Orcide Craft.

Back at the car. The kitten is sitting in a door pull from G45.

Here you can see the car from the side.

In the backside on the car I have used a stamp from IndigoBlu.

On the front you can take away the panel, so you can write a greeting.
I have used magnets to hold the panel with fussy cut on to the car.

I hope you did like this project.
